KUALA
LUMPUR, April 23 — Penang has been named as Malaysia’s most liveable
city for the second year in a row by global consulting firm ECA
International, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said today.
He said that ECA International’s annual location ratings research data
also showed that Penang had maintained its position as Asia’s eighth
most liveable city, while Kuala Lumpur had dropped from ninth to 10th.
“If we only beat them once, people may say it’s a fluke. But we have repeated the feat this year.
“This year we are ahead of KL, the first time in history,” he told reporters here.
He stressed that ECA International, which helped firms assess locations
for global staff placements, was a testament to Penang’s development
under Pakatan Rakyat.
Lim said that connectivity to the state would be vastly improved in the
near future as his administration was now expanding the airport, port
and communication facilities while work on a second Penang Bridge was
also underway.
